Success leads to failure for online gaming operator

Wednesday 21st July 2010

The online gambling site PlayNow.com has been forced to shut down after the discovery of a technical glitch. PlayNow.com, which is operated by British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) discovered a technical issue which allowed in excess of 100 players to access other players' gaming accounts, this type of issue is referred to as 'data crossover'.

The BCLC had recently re-launched PlayNow.com with a range of casino games including blackjack and roulette, these additional games generated a tremendous amount of interest which placed a high load on the servers running the games and subsequently caused the data crossover glitch.

On being notified of the issue the BCLC took immediate action and took the PlayNow.com website down, replacing the homepage with a message informing users of the issue. Investigations by external security experts say that no evidence of interference or hacking has been identified.

When choosing where to play blackjack it is important to select an experienced, trustworthy and reliable online casino to ensure you have a fun, engaging and secure experience.
